  • Conerning Saint Patrick Renaissance by Joseph's Studio

    8:31 AM PST, 2/27/2008

This history of St. Patrick's Celebration on March 17 is credited to International Wholesalers and Dropshippers' product description of St. Patrick Renaissance. I hope you gain as much insight about St. Patrick's Day as I as you read through the article.

    About Saint Patrick's Day

Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated each year on March 17th. In Ireland, Saint Patrick’s Day is both a holy day and a national holiday. Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland as he was the one who brought Christianity to the Irish. According to legend, Saint Patrick used a shamrock to explain about God. The shamrock, which looks like clover, has three leaves on each stem. Saint Patrick told the people that the shamrock was like the idea of the Trinity - that in the one God there are three divine beings: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The shamrock was sacred to the Druids, so Saint Patrick’s use of it in explaining the trinity was very wise. Although it began in Ireland, Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated in countries around the world. People with Irish heritage remind themselves of the beautiful green countryside of Ireland by wearing green and taking part in the festivities. Saint Patrick’s Day is usually celebrated with a parade. The one in Dublin, Ireland is known to some as the Irish Mardi Gras. But the one in New York City is actually one of the biggest. It lasts for hours. Two Irish wolfhounds, the mascots of the New York National Guard infantry regiment the “Fighting 69th”, always lead the parade. More than one hundred bands and a hundred thousand marchers follow the wolfhounds in the parade. Saint Patrick and the Snakes: Another tale about Patrick is that he drove the snakes from Ireland. Different versions of the story, tell of him standing upon a hill, using a wooden staff to drive the serpents into the sea, banishing them forever from Ireland. One version says that an old serpent resisted banishment, but that Patrick outwitted him. Patrick made a box and invited the snake to enter. The snake insisted it was too small and the two argued. Finally to prove his point, the snake entered the box to show how tight the fit was. Patrick slammed the lid closed and threw the box into the sea. Although it’s true that Ireland has no snakes, this likely had more to do with the fact that Ireland is an island and being separated from the rest of the continent the snakes couldn’t get there. The stories of Saint Patrick and the snakes are likely a metaphor for his bringing Christianity to Ireland and driving out the pagan religions (serpents were a common symbol in many of these religions).

    About Me

    This is me.

Hi. I'm Brian Moore, and I own Down Home Crafts and Such, the eBay store for sundry handmade factory assembled home decor products, memorabilia, soaps, andles, home and garden decor, and more.

I am retired from the cusomer service field, and I became interested in eBay through their television advertising. I started out by buying a few collectibles to sell and by making some wood crafted items. You'll find some of them in the store. Then I progressed to buying more items in bulk and offering reasonable prices on both individual and lot auctions. To date over $1,000 in inventory has been won by the bidders, which I appreciate greatly. Delivery is prompt and charges reasonably priced. A look at my feedback on eBay will show what I mean.

Please visit Down Home Crafts and Such and see for yourself the variety of the over 80 items to choose from. They are of the highest quality availablle. I hope to see you soon and that you spread the word. Thanks for looking!

    Brian

New this week are some candleholders you're sure to fall in love with. They are all metal and glass with very unique designs that are eye-catching and appealing to your guests.

First is a spiraling metal tealight holder with the candles climbing the spiral in stair step fashion. It makes an immediate impression and is even better with one of your flower filled vases standing in the middle of the spiral. To find it, click on "Metal Spiral Candleholder Stair-step Table Decor Black" (candles not included).

Second, gaze upon "Mini-Chandelier Votive Stand-Candleholder-Gift Idea", a real piece of artwork. The metal supports scroll upward from a sturdy base to dual delicately hung glass vessels enclose flickering votives or tealights (not included).

Finally, the "Metal Star Lantern-Hanging Candleholder Xmas Gift Idea" provides a powerful decoration designed to hang. Made of embossed star-shaped glass and a metal frame, a tealight holder mounted behind the glass adds a glow that will please any onlooker.

    The Folk Art Santa

The first Folk Art Santa was fashioned by a skilled artisan around 1987 as a special holiday gift for his wife. Since she was an artisan as well, the next year they worked together to produce Santas as holiday gifts for their family and friends. Soon these matchless inventions became a favorite family tradition.

Around that time there was a general upsurge in the folk art movement, and the Folk Art Santa soon became the most emulated Christmas art form anywhere. Its popularity was overshadowed by few concepts besides Santa Claus himself.

In the Folk Art Santa at Down Home Crafts and Such Auctiva, that tradition is borne out. Every detail is carefully seen to before the mold is cast, and the colors are meticulously painted on. The finished Santa is then packed and shipped with as much care as with the making of it.

When you purchase it from me, I will double pack its box into a larger box and fill the larger box with packing foam. You will receive as beautiful a Christmas memento as you will get this year.

Come visit us for your Christmas treasures and many other quality products at reasonable prices.

    Happy Shopping!

We operate an eBay store which is home based in Chillicothe, Ohio. Chillicothe, the Ross County seat, is moderately populated with shops, industrial businesses, and malls. Ross County is situated in rural south-central Ohio, between Columbus, the state capital, and Portsmouth on the Ohio River.

    About Brian Moore, the Owner

What everyone should know about me:

    • I am a big city boy who came to a smaller place in down home Ohio to teach in a local school.
    • I'm 59 and married to a terrific wife of 29.9 years.
    • We have two great sons, 28 and 25.
    • I want to find a retirement supplemental income related to crafting, soap and candle making, woodworking, and flea market buying, selling, and auctioning. (The plaque to the right is a selection of my efforts. You can see it in the Nome Decor section of my store.)
    • I’ve found an interest in buying and selling items of a rural, down home theme. It is a natural component of the modern trend of tracing our roots.
    • My wife and I have a flare for home made and handmade country items and have decorated our home in a rural theme.

    • I do crafting, mostly woodworking with simple hand and electric tools. Attention to quality and doing things right balance my self-taught limitations.

    • Things I sell:

handmade and home made crafts, artisan crafts, handmade soaps, handmade candles, vacation mementos, exceptional flea market finds, and more...

    • Things I buy

home and garden crafts, artisan crafts, gift items, music, more...

    • Things I collect

arts and crafts, antique tools, t-shirts, bill caps, music, more...

    • Language spoken:

      English

Since we opened our store, we've begun adding more and more retail items. I still look for good handmade items to sell, and I still make wooden things, some of which sell in our store.

Please come and visit us at all three of our store:

You'll find quality merchandise and great prices at all three stores.

    Thanks, and Happy Shopping!
